December 2007

yes! thank god hady mirza got the advantage votes from the brilliant voting system on the asian idol. probably other gurls from other asian countries were smitten by his good look and powerful voice. he is a total package. and thank god, mike from indonesia doesnt win the title because you know what, he got the voice alrite, but watching him singing at the very end of the show, he look so tired, i can literally see his gasping for air. he need to exercise more to keep fit.

personally i send 3 sms vote for jac and hady. due to their powerful voice and superb performance. but seriously all the asian idols are all great and winners in their own way.

but im so glad hady won!

i dream bout meeting gwen stefani celebrate xmas asian style last nite. weird ek?
well you know that christmas =snow. but here in asian we dont have snow. so how do gwen stefani celebrate christmas in asia?

so l dream about visiting gwen at her home. where she busy preparing for her christmas preparation. she had design her own christmas dress. with some red color garment but then unlike other santarina who are wrap in wools, gwen has cut the dress short, with shoulder baring tank. but its still red and white in color combination.

then what bout food? so for food instead of preparing turkey and egg yog, gwen has replace the item with kek pisang and capati to serve her guest later on.

there are other details in my dream. but i cant recall. seriously it was a weird dream eh.

Wan Shaina Wan Zaid or now known as Shayna Zaid has recently burst into local music industry with a special project album, Half a World Away. An album dedicated to her homeland, a loving masterpiece of her collected memories from her journey from Kuala Lumpur 6 years ago to New York.

I didn’t really remember her during her stint as TV host in TV3. She was a host of this local English program called ‘Speak up’ with her sister’s Sarah. Judging from the youtube archives, the program was something like today’s ‘Quickies’ on 8tv.  And she was geeky at that time, with glasses and all. But she was indeed a smart girl, with bubbly personality, articulate and charm. The sister wows the local TV viewers with their well verse English.

It’s a natural deal since she was born from a mixed parentage parents. Having an American mum, Virginia kime and terengganu born daddy wan zaid wan ahmad in her up bringing has molded Shayna to become what she is today. After few years in Malaysia, The Zaid family then moved to America. A decision was bold to Shayna since at that time, Shayna is already an established TV personality and she was offered a recording deal with local label to cut an album deal. But she turned fame and money aside in pursuit of her education. In one of her interview, Shayna said that, she believes that education is important for her. Well how many teens today will choose education, if they have to choose between money, fame and education?

In America, Shayna enrolled in Berkeley College of Music where she studies Audio production. Having surrounded with a musically charged environment has inspired Shayna’s creative side. There she met a guy named Jay Diesel who later grooms her to become what she is today. The duo spent many sleepless night in studios and then, Shayna’s debut album’ Beyond Borders’ was release independently under Diesel Music records. To promote the album, Shayna has performed in various clubs in America particularly New York; where she also build her fan based and networking with the music industry people. While at the same time she build her networking via where else Myspace at Www.Myspace.com/Shaynazaid .

Her buzzing stint in New York has sparked news here in Kuala Lumpur, Where local reporters there review her show here in local News paper.  Two of local artist and DJ tracked her down and then flew to New York thus Half A World Away was produced and released with their collaborations in loving tribute to her homeland while Shayna and her New York team are currently finishing of her 2nd English album, yet untitled.

It was when Shayna returns to Kuala Lumpur and her videos and interviews were played again and again on hits.tv, Malaysian local music channel that started to catch my attention on this amazing singer and her charming, articulate and loving personality. I first saw her on AC Disini, a local talkshow program with my mum, we were both amazed by her down to earth persona, and in all interview laters we were overwhelmed by how much she love herself as being a terengganu born, Malaysian. Eventough she has migrated to the USA, she still have her Malaysian roots with her and very very proud of it. A rare qualities that we can see nowadays, well ive seen many tv interviews on Malaysians youngster who lived abroad. Well, sorry to say, not many of them are proud to call themselves Malaysian. With their overdose English sounding bahasa, funny when some of them look more malay than the average malay teens here in Kuala Lumpur, with dark skin and all. While Shayna got her American blood in her and look more like an average American than them but she is nothing like those youngsters. Really.

Well, having attracted to her personality alone doesn’t attract me to buy ‘Half A World Away’. Obviously I’m not easy to pleased and to impressed with marketing gimmicks. Eventough, I must admit that I started to fall in love with her song, Rain or Shine and Percayalah Impianmu, the very first time Shayna performed them on Ac Disini. But then it took me hundreds of spin of Shayna’s songs on IMEEM and hours of internet searches of Shaya Zaid items on the internet via Google, Youtube and also countless visits to her official myspace page before I finally decide to buy her album. A decision that is worth the cents spent on this album.

When I got the urged to buy this album, the album is not easily available in the local stores. Its ironic when few months ago, the album was promoted heavily in Tower Records, and there is also TV Ads by Astro promoting this album. Oh yea, Shayna made  a wise decision to made an arrangement with maestro records. Her album was sold at an affordable cost at only RM29.90 and maestro actually did a quite a good job promoting the album in various astro channels and events.

The album cover has a very welcoming, smiley and beautiful of Shayna’s close up. A simple but beautiful inlay design printed on a glossy high quality paper. There is two more of her close up pictures, one taken from her ‘beyond borders’ cover.  Then in one section where she put various personal photos of her family and friends arranged on a sandy beach with her loving personal words of wisdom. And yes, the lyrics are included!

The music of ‘Half A World Away’ begin with the first track of the album.

Feels So Right (Lyrics by Shayna, Composed by J.Dean)

The is the right song to start of the album, an inspiring piano solo with Shayna very haunting vocal. You will felt very nitely feeling, warm, and serene. I love everytime she hit the chorus. “can you feel it, can you see it, im not dreaming anymore, when you with me, cause it feels so right…” The best thing about this song, the lyrics and emotion of the song hit you deep emotionally from the very first time.  “Come sit on my side of the table, lets play our cards right, do you believe that anything is possible? So lets shoot for the stars, with a lil charm, with a lil luck, we’ll get there together..you with me cause it feels so right..” You can take this song as from lover to lover, or from sister to a lil sister. The way i personally took it, I imagine as Shayna as my long lost sister, from half a world away comforting me with her words. Totally comforting and I felt so relax. And yeah, during one of listen, I did shed my tears and felt so relieved. Kali Pertama (Lyric by Shayna Zaid, I.Ishak, JFK Composed by J.Dean)

This is the first single off the album, and the only song from the album who is backed with a music video for it. The song is sexy, talking about the affectionate feeling when two lovers or friends met. The intro of the songs and the chorus were layered with flute sound. Something with Malaysian-indonesian-ish vibe. Shazzy provide the rapping in Bahasa. His rhyme are hooked and nothing superficial aka Poyo. But personally I felt that JFK lyrics can be improvise to make it sound better. Esp the part where he sings “ kau gadis sejati, ku jatuh hati, kali pertama”. Gadis sejati? What does he meant by that??  It probably with something like, Kau tetap kunanti, ku jatuh hati . Sorry, I felt JFK part are bit poyo to my ears. Other than that, this song is gem.

Rain or Shine ( lyric by Shayna Zaid, Composed by J. Dean)

This song is a midtempo, sexy song with arrangements of strings and drums. The lyric of the song make this song is another gem not to be skipped. Shayna  wrote “ Rain or shine , im by yourside, show the world who you really are inside, The skys the limit, so don’t hold yourself down, there’s a room for everybody, its up to everyone”How inspiring is that?!. The songs is very motivational. As if Shayna telling us not quit in pursuing our dreams, as a friend, she is with us, rain or shine. Beautiful.

Percayalah Impianmu(lyric Shayna Zaid, I.Ishak Composed by B. Greiner, J.Dean)

This is one of my favourite tracks in this album. A very inspiring song track. I believe if all mothers in the world singing this song in every lullaby, every children in this world will become a better person. Really. I first listen to it during AC Dsini, and felt in love with it ever since. Listen to it so many times but I never get bored with it. The opening of the songs start with Shayna saying ‘ pejam matamu, bayangkan, masa depanmu penuh peluang, lepaskan lelah, jangan kau bimbang, kusentiasa disisi my sayang” Chorus she tells us that “you deserves a better life,I can see inside in your eyes, I can help you make it through, theres a better life, waiting for you” Then she reminds us not to give up when she said “ bukalah pintu fikiranmu, jangan nafikan yang kau mampu, bukan khayalan, malah impian, kecapi apa yang kau impikan” The rapping by Shazzy completes and tops this song off with a very inspiring rhyme. Yes, Tentu kau boleh. As Shayna wraps it up.

Take your time (Lyric by Shayna, Composed by J.Dean)

This song is simple. With strums arrangement of violin and guitar, however it is the lyrics that will hook you to this song. And the song itself completes the lyric beautifully. In this song Shayna is comforting a broken hearted friend to take a time to heal from a heart break. I believe you will cried to this song if you going through a rough times in relationship. Shayna wrote very comforting words, in every word in this song “ everybody need a lil time to heal a broken heart, don’t apologize, ive been there, it may take a month or two, or years to finally say goodbye to a memories of him. Just take your time and dried your eyes, please take your time, my dear, please take your time im here” I bet when the violin hit the 2nd verse of the song you will cry. And fell in love with this brilliant song.    Sweet while it lasted ( lyric by Shayna Composed by J.Dean) Sweet as the song titled. The song is sexy with flirty vibes. The music was layered with some east Indian influences. Shayna’s voice in this song sound soulful reminds you to the oldies crooner Roberta Flack, Gloria Gaynor. This jazzy number will make you hit that replay button for more.

Gotta Get Up ( Lyric by Shayna, I.Ishak Composed by J.Dean)

Gotta get up will make you push your chin up and inspire lazy bum to go out and make it happen. With RnB Hip hop influence this is another precious gem in this album. Shayna inspires her fans, friends to get up, stand up and make your dreams a reality.  This song will surely make her audience to sing along and dance.  The way Shayna put her words is smart, and she’ s not being preachy, she write from her experience that being lazy will not move you step ahead.  “gotta get up don’t let your hand hang over your head, gotta get up,baby  I know I understand, someday you learn to look ahead” The only annoying part of this song is JFK singing part. People who understand bahasa will probably find JFK singing “asyik ku dengar cerita, isi hati bisikan suara, tabah, tempuhi segala duka..” the word segala is suppose to be pronounce as se-ga-la not sen-ga-la. I cringe everytime I listen to that part. What a spoiler.  But don’t let that small part turn you off. If you have seen JFK on tv or in person, you probably forgive going to forgive him. He probably accidently choked himself while recording that “segala” part. Kidding.

Room for love ( Lyric Shayna Composed by J.Dean)

Shayna wrote this song with Iraq war in her mind, with destruction of houses, children crying in pain and hunger. But of course she wrote it in a subtle way that people who are in need of love can relate to it aswell. But when you picture those children in pain and hungry, you might cry when Shayna’s haunting voice stab your heart in a compassionate note. This song proves that shayna can sing ballad very well. Her voice soar and fills each corner of our empty soul and you probably end up hugging some one you have neglected or make a call to your long lost friend or call anyone who are in feud with you after you listen to this song. Shayna believe “ there will always be room for love, so open your eyes, open your mind, open your heart, wide open”.  There are some Mary j vibes in this song. Where I can’t help but imagine Shayna performing this song with full of energy, passion and soul.

Last All Night( Lyric Shayna, I.Ishak composed by J.Dean)

This is a party song. Definitely will make you move your feet, get up, clap your hands and dance. Shayna talks about how she enjoy being with her lovely friends at club. This song represents Shayna’s feeling of having a fun time with her friends in NY or KL. As she wrote “I never forget all the friends that ive met, what a priceless moment captured in time, I don’t need camera its on my mind, look around, lets remember this forever”  However I personally thought that Shazzy should stick to rapping in bm rather than having his tongue twisted imitating other rapper signature adlib. We already heard wooieee in Mariah Carey’s heartbreaker remix. Then he almost got his tongue twisted when rapping “you see it’s a Friday night, chilling from the spotlight,he looking for love, just wanna have some fun night, girls be wearing, blabla affection, dress to impress, they got shazzy attention..” I love shazzy, but that verse its too superficial for me to swallow. Thank god the rest of his rhymes are simple words that smartly in place. This song is a perfect song to end this album. A Happy song that will make you hit that replay button for another spin.

‘Half A World Away’ is a well produced album from new upcoming musicians.  Shayna Zaid is definitely a star in the making, and expected to make a buzz in the American music industry. One of the Shayna collaboration with Bill Greiner was for the theme for the DVD released movie ’The plane dead’ was used as a opening credit for the horror movie and has already making buzz on the internet where the fans are asking to get the ‘among the dead’ song. The rock influence song has also proved that Shayna versatile talent in delivering the song with her own signature style although I can tell you that she sound on the same level as other female rock singer in the market now. Having a pool of talented musicians such as bill greiner, J. Diesel and other producers to collaborate with, I’m assured that one day, we would have a Malaysian born singer performing in the grammy award or perhaps winning one of the trophy. The dream that’s too high to be achieved for a new modest singer like Shayna Zaid. As she said to us to, Percayalah impianmu. If she keep getting up and up im sure, her dreams will become a reality. All the best shayna, and thank you for a beautiful lovely album that successfully makes us feel your loved from half a world away.

sometimes what we thought was a perfect purchase is not entirely perfect. sometimes simple things as rubber ring will cause you headache. why am telling you this? because my experience on buying a Philips HR1727 model is obviously a regret!

PHILIPS HR-1727 BLENDER

I now learned that buying a blender is not simple. well, ive to go through hassle to understand that there are many types of blenders for many purposes. each price determined on how the blender will serve you with smiley face or giving your headache!.

Few months ago, when i decide to cook for myself instead of eating outside, buying a blender is part of the pieces of having to set up a kitchen. thus when Phillips was having it promotion at carrefour wangasamaju i quickly make no futher thinking of purcashing philips HR1727 Model at a very good price with the features(blends, mills, juicer all in one-convenient aint it?).

no! my problem start when my housemate mistakenly blended the rubber ring on the mills base! then my problem to get the replacement of the rubber ring (which i later found out that it will only cause me RM4!)is a hassle. since November 2007 ive called to the supplies call number 03-79570102(PJ) to get a new rubber but failed!

1. The service centre still waiting for the manufacturer to deliver the parts to them.(since last month)
2. they cant confirm when is the exact date that the parts will be received by them.(pls call again..and again…).

to make matter worst, that parts cant be purchase anywhere else except at the service centre! (HOW CONVENIENT!).

then can you tell me, how am i gonnna blend my spice and stuff during that period of time? . buying a new blender? is not at smart option either. Thus leaving me with an option to use the lesung batu! and of course to wait!!(which they wont call me to inform me that the parts has arrived, but i have to call them!!, how convenient!).

upon curiosity, i went to carrefour and talks to the saleslady, then i found out that, in buying blender, one should consider cost or convenient.

while the expensive blenders may cost you more, but you do not have to worry on the problem such similar as mine!! there are blenders which we can be easily clean without taking off the parts!so next time if you plan to buy a blender consider this tips.

1. get a blender which doesnt have so many parts. better buy the one with easy cleaning without taking off the parts.
2. buy a blender with a glass jar. (if you want to avoid the smell, plastic jar tend to kept the smell if the jar is not properly wash).(yes it may broke..so you consider yourself).
lastly and most importantly

make sure the after sales service office is nearby your area to avoid problems.

remember. there will always a catch and  agenda behind cheap price!

beeezy sgt. so tak sempat nak blog pasal my favourite show ni. so i start with ep 3 reviewlah.

but generallly. i LURVEE TARA2. why? coz the production team selected interesting team to watch. (except the plain team from japan and hong kong-i almost didnt realize they are in the race!). other teams are all vibrant and kecoh. esp that philipines team. if last season we have the flamboyant drama queen sharad from india as the drama diva. this year we have terri who without fail in every episode has provided every drama dose.(which to the points too anoying for us to cope!-hehe, but we kesian her hubby lar..koz mcm kena buli jee dgn bini dia)

in general i have few teams that i support and rooting for .(almost cried if they didnt make it, or seeing them trying to making to the pit stop just nerve wrecking)

1. Pam & Vanessa chong(malaysia)

those who like vince chong will definately sokong this sisters la kan!.

2.sophie and aurelia(hong kong)

I lurvee aurelia! i love her accent, her smiley faces, her accent, her energetic bubbly personalities. cuma kekadang i felt sophie is bit hard on her. poor aurelia.hehe.

3.paula & Natasha (thailand)

i love them both, but i love to see spunky natasha more..they 2 are quite a good team despite having ups n down.

anoying to watch sometimes but surely going to miss them if they got eliminated.

1.henry & terri (philipines)

didnt care that they are in the race or not

1. sawaka& Daichi (japan)

hmm but daichi is cute tho..:P

most probably going to win and secretly hoping that they going to lose.

1.marc & rovilson

enough said..too many masculinity bores me.like it or not, i would like to see the weakest, most struggling team to win :P

ok back to review.

sadddddd!!!

weepiee…what a weekend! fuh fuh really. thank god. theres no heavy downpour..just a brizle..which to us..fyne..and yeap yeap..NO MUD! (im still traumatized by the recharge o7 experience.so…thats why i really2 serious about the mud crisis ok!).

so since it doesnt really rain..and ive checked the field and the stadium beforehand…i decided not to wear rubber boots..and yeap..i didnt even use my plastic rain poncho! weeho..well..who need that..? when im half possesed already!.

we arrived very early that sunday afternoon!.(yeap!). after lunch around 2pm. i already arrived at the stadium area..as i expected lots2 of illegal parking fee collector!!(DAMN U!!-WHO THE HELL R THESE PPL? AND WHERE DO THEY COME FROM?ANYWAY?). nope..i learned my lesson..so i parked cross the road near the monorail station. in front of RHB bank. (need to be more specific?:P). no parking fee whatsoever. so after we walk around..the band just started to do their sound checked..so we peek a listen from the rm103 gate. (i think). kewl la jugak..few lookers joining us after that.

soon afterwards..we took monorail and drop by times square to do some lil shopping. i decided to buy a shoe..for the ocassion(yeah..something to remember for later on..). i settled on this cute converse high legging which i can roll down..black color with purple combination here n there.suit me best i think? :P . then after makan. around 6 we went to stadium merdeka again.

the crowd now packed.found our friends there..so we squeeze in their lines(hehe) and waited for the gate to open. when the gate open..thank god…the security didnt really check my sling bag…so i manage tru safe and sound..

actually…im kinda satisfied with the ticket layout plan…RM103 is placed at the back, seated with deep longkang and high gate(so sape lompat tu mmg gilo or superman!). then, RM163 ticket is placed at the back of field…RM253 is in the middle and the most expensive tix is RM323 is at the front. there are double gate separating all 3 free standing area. with rela guards guarding the gate from illegal jumpers. so everybody can rest assured they are paying for what they can afford to and not to worried of some ppl want to jump into their area without paying. hehee….thank god i settled for RM163 not RM253, because its still far from the stage. and for those who pay RM253, sure makan hati coz if they fork out extra ringgit, they can stand in front of the stage..!!

it just i bit dissapointed lah koz i paid huge RM for MUSE but at the event day,  i just recovered from demam so tak betul2 all out nak enjoy. but…for MCR..i went all out ohkeyy…screaming along to every words…bang my head like im one of the guys..and basically im a  row of guys posssesed guys..so we all enjoy gile lah..melalak to every words..i think i cried during 2 songs..last famous words and i dont love you. huhuhu eventhough my emotional state now is far from being depressed or sad, i put myself into those sad ppl shoes and sunk in their mood. and pling! it works…and i screamed like no tomorrow..u dun ask bout lencunlah..coz im soaking wet. ehehe..

times goes so fast. i didnt realised we reach the end already!! so sekejap!! jam belum kul 11, but the concert dah habis.??like wuuttt?? and the crowd didnt scream like crazy for encore..i think nobody scream for an encore!! oh sad!!! and we waited for a while..but since the crew ppl start packing things..i guess..theres no additional songs for us here in KL!!

cam tak puas sket lah…honestly..the crowd is not as huge as i thot its going to be..there are still rooms left here and there…i guess, better buat kat stadium negara. perhaps some ppl just peeking through from outside and listen for free. coz whadaya expect, its stadium merdeka.

things shouldve been better if they done it at stadium negara or putra.an indoor arena. to make matter worst…the sound system is not high standard..still ada echoes, then the speaker is not loud enough to reach the audience at the back(i guess thats why they just sit there..not standing up at full force).

whatever it is..thank you MCR for coming here to KL. its not often. some other bands just neglect us here due to many donts set by so many ppl..the government and of course, the unofficial moral polices of malaysia.

i heart you!!! been saving my heart..my tears, my money and my soul for you!!

it has been a rainy daily ritual here in KL.it surelly goin to be rain in the afternoon, or morning or evening or it the whole day. so i forseen that this sunday my chemical romance concert in KL. surelly goin to be a muddy event. lots of mud. so fellas…i guess forget on parading your new spanking just bought specially for my chemical concert shoes or clothes..coz..its not goin to be a fashion parade. unless you decide to do the daredevil “my chemical sacrifice” to your new shoes or clothes. hehehe.

so i probbaly goin to buy a new converse sneaker and a shirt. but probbaly goin there with this

opppss…wrong boot.

yess…thiss..!! hehehe the rubber one!! and what a better way to complete the look with a faboulous rain poncho!

ready for a chemically charge devotion!

since umbrella, mineral waters wont be allowed in the arena..i guess…i must get these 2 items quick before other hungry devoted chemical fans finished it all off at the nearest store.

question…? where do we buy this things!! HELP!

i dun haf a note book. i would like to own one. especially this 2 brand. but dunno. maybe u can recommended me a better ones? im looking for a sleek, stylo, durable, battery lasting, easy and affordable upgrading(if requires), best after sales service. in short. AFFORDABLE + STYLISH.
