Good to see such initiative were done by collective malaysians artists in promoting racial unity in our country. Like it or not, some of us(yes you know who you are, yourself) are still practicing racial descrimination in your own way.we will never know, if your warm smiles and laughter comes from your honest inner hearts or just a act you play, while you smirk and speak in a different tone using your mother tongue with your fellow tribe. only you, yourselves know this for sure.Tepuk dada, tanyalah your selera.
What is racial unity? racial unity is more than just coming together cheering for a national sports team in Commenwealth games, Olympic, or Thomas Cup. Racial unity are the act of togetherness as one nation no matter what come accross in sickness and health, in happy times or sad times, racial unity is about being together and giving moral and pysical support for another race other than yourselves.
For example, During the malayan union, where the british, try to demolished the sultanate governess and try to americanise our country, at that time, all race, not only malay, should come forward and fight for our independance. How many chinese, or indians at that particular time come together and help the local people in defending the rularship of the sultanate? Thats one of the pivotal example that racial unity can be put in a practice. However, sadly, majority of the Chinese and the Indians shy away from the fights thinking that the Malayan Union issue was a malay issue. That was 50 years back.
After the abolishments of Malayan Union, next, Almarhum Tunku Abdul Rahman then initated a campaign to fight for independance for Tanah Melayu. The establishment of the states, local goverments, were initiated which includes Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore. The constitution were laid, among other, was the agreement of the locals (bumiputera – consist of malays, aborigins and local ethnic from sabah and sarawak) given their green lights to allow chinese and indian were givin national and rights to live in this country. Well i think most of us, has ignored this fact. Thanks to the flexibility of the goverment back then, that has allowed, the chinese and indians being educated according to their own curricullum system.Which causes, the younger generations live in confusion and miscommunication resulting from misunderstanding of cultural diversions among us. Well, to think of, If Malaysia follow how the indonesian nurture their younger generations in having a one national indentity as indonesian, despite their diverse racial and ethnic difference, Malaysians would not be in such confusion as today.
Racial unity is another thing, but racial contract is another thing. We have the bumiputera and non bumiputera. If you dont know what is bumiputera and why bumiputera and non bumiputera rights exist, you probably has skipped your history class in form 3-5. So, before anyone promotes racial equality and what not, please understand basic fact first of why such contract exist in this country. It was made 50 years ago. So for the non bumiputera, consider yourself lucky when the bumiputeras agreed to given you rights to live and be rich in this country 50 years ago.
Im so fade up with this racial unrest between malaysians who doesnt seem to understand the malaysian history well and not being thankful at all by provoking many issues that has been stipulated in the constitution. Malaysia is a prosperous land, where the local people has been polite, giving and welcoming to the foreign people from then till now. Its very sad knowing that the “guest” that has been treated well and given all the chances live succesfully in this country now, trying to bite the pampering hands. All of these has made me think that, Malaysia is truly unique.Well whats done in the past is now becoming our history, we shall now move on fix whatever loopholes in cleaning up all this confusion and mess.
we all have lived happily before, why cant we now?Now all of the sudden few heroes who comes from god knows where , trying to make a “difference” and trying to “fix” things up. I wonder where do they come from? where do this “heroic” fighters get their education from? do they really understand our country that much? Where do they get their secondary education from? Or this people actually come out of nowhere trying to emulate a racial equality module from a foreign land? What is their actual hidden agenda? are they just simply trying their luck, taking advantages from other people weakness. They know how frustrated we was with the corruption in UMNO, thus they come offering for a “solution”. For those who are blind probably has been biting their baits. But one one thing for sure, this rascals has created a mess. A mess to our peaceful home.
Here is our home. Its a home for the people who love the continuity of peace and harmony. If your not happy, our KLIA departure gates are always open for you to migrate and let us lived. If Malaysia doesnt practice racial equality according to your mould, then please pack your bags and leave to a country where you think will fit you in the most.
I come from Kelantan, Where people there, regardless of racial and religious differences has lived happily and respectful to each other according to the rights that has been bestow upon us as malaysian citizen. Everybody understand each other rights and limit. And so i believe, thats the way people in Sabah and Sarawak has lived all this while too.
And for the note, as a bumiputera, i admire the way the chinese and indians dominance in the ecomony and professional sector. But it doesnt make me hate them. I thank their contributions to the country economic growth. And not a bit jealous of their success, in fact their success, is a motivational support for me to prove that i am too, as a bumiputera can be even more successful than them. If fact if theres anyone who look down upon the potential and talents of a bumiputera like me, the more i wanna prove to them that im equaliy good or BETTER in many ways than them. In Fact, all malaysians should nurture our talents and potential with a resume that strikingly appealing not only to malaysians employers but also to the internationals aswell.
Ok. enough of the blabbering talks.
lets discuss about the music video for here in my home, as a marketeers, i wonder where are all artist who represent dominant number of fans from malay, indian and chinese race? such as siti nurhaliza, mila?mawi ? fish leong?gary chaw?nicholas teo?yogi b?chakra sonic?kravanah?kashmir stone?probably there are too busy to join this free cause? or probably they are not being informed about this campaign. and why are the song in english? this song and video would appeal to a urban demographic for sure, but im sure, it will failed to reach the rural demographic. At least it must have 2 version english rojak and bahasa. Personally i felt the music video and song campaign would have better penetration if its:-
1. available in two version, english rojak and bahasa malaysia or in rojak. provided the aritst who sing in mandarin is not chinese or the tamil verse is not sing by indian to make it more interesting and appealing in suiting the racial unity course.
2. participation from dominance artist for eg. siti nurhaliza, mawi, and dominance artist from chinese and tamil local music industry.
3. younger artist who will appeal to younger malaysians such as Dafi, Mila, Amelia Tripura, sharifah aryana, shafie, liyana jasmay etc to ensure the racial unity message reach the younger age groups.
4. Older artist -veterens who will appeal to older demographic.
The current video and song, probably will appeal to a urban demographic, and personally i think its not too appealing to a wider segment such as rural. nampak campaign syok sendiri among artists who are within close knit among each other. I know its a free call, probbaly other artist cant join in maybe because they were busy. But it would be much more appealing and well executed if the comittee putting some effort in carefully plan it so that the racial unity message will get accross malaysians from perlis to sabah, from the city to the very end of a rural remote villagers. But its ok tho, at least it is better than nothing, and probably the comittee have their own objective and agenda in having it in such a way it did now

A couple o’ faqs at the MAFU website might answer some of your questions
15. i hate it. why isn’t my favorite artiste involved?
although we would have liked to have included every famous malaysian artiste in the project, this is simply not possible for scheduling and other reasons. moreover, the no-budget, non-profit nature of this project and its timeline of 3 weeks from pre-production to video shoot meant that there is a limit to how many people we could invite and manage. be that as it may, we agree that our project is not perfect and will happily offer our modest assistance if you’d like to produce a more comprehensive effort. in the mean time, please don’t hate us. we’re sensitive creative types and feel hurt easily [puke].
17. did anyone declined the invitation?
yes, of course. some had to turn us down because of scheduling conflicts. some were afraid of participating in a project that could be hijacked for party political purposes. some were fearful of engaging with a so-called sensitive subject in such a visible way. and others simply did not think it was worth their time and effort. and no, we’re not going to tell you who they are. sorry.
