at crucial times like this where price of everything goes up, savings is pretty badly needed for everyday people like us. For working people, the last thing they need is another financial burden in having to fork out their savings to medical expenses when they get sick. worst case, if their sickness causing them to stop working.

so can you imagine, how we going to survive with the savings that we have had, slowly drained out. well, worst case, you might going to sell your car, your house and everything in it.

and the daily bills keep on coming and coming. When you cannot work, or in medical leave for a long period how can you survive?

thats why insurance come in the picture. Insurance is our saviour. people in the west, the non malays esp the chinese the first think they do when they bought a house, or started working is they put an insurance to it. so that whenever anything coming, their savings are still there for them untouch. In fact, every time they had a new born babies, what they do is take up insurance policy for their babies and open up an education fund for them.

we malays dont usually do that. For many reasons. some are aware of this and take precautions for the bad days. some just dont, thinking that its all will be taken care of when it happen. Dont ask them how. the normal excuse are “pandai2 lah nanti”, “nanti anak2 aku amik loan ptpn”, etc etc…tragik kan?

Thats why the malays who have that “takpa” mentality are famous with their debt, and worst still they will get old without sufficient money and have to depend on their children to support them. its dangerous.Truth is, when we are old, rotten, smelly and POOR, how many of our children will be willing to take care of us? unless we are rich and have acres of land, houses, our children will fight among them to take turns to take care of you. truth hurt isnt? well its the reality. it has happened to my grandparents on my father and mother side. Luckily my grandparents arent that poor, so you can imagine the situation among my uncles and aunties, fighting their attention in order to have their name written in the will.

The best insurance policy to me is insurance(with medical card) + investment. where you got something out of your money you put aside to the insurance company every month for your home or your health. Some of us probably think that why invest with an insurance link. to me why not? does your unit trust investment provide you medical protection? i mean the takaful invesment link insurance will act as your additional resource of money. rather than paying up monthly insurance premium but you didnt get a peny out of it.

Thats why im so happy when zul decided to take an insurance for his goodsake. After i explain about this thing to him. He understand and able to comprehand my worries if something bad happen to him. Yes god forbid. But we human need to plan our life for our “what ifs” situation.

My Dad, who is a healthy person. all his life never been admited to hospital for a serious health condition and never involve in a road accident all his life on the road suddenly nearly lost his leg due to accidental’s accident that cause him to fell off his bike. Yes he was admited to hospt for months, and undergo theraphy and stuff for years to get into good shape.Eventhough he lost his job, thank god he didnt lost his leg.

and Thank god, years ago, he took few insurances for him to cover up. So we didnt have to sell our house, and stuff to go through the hard times. My dad is not a very highly educated person. But he able to comprehand the importance of having an insurance policy.Thats why as soon as i finished my study, he told me to list of things of a must do. and one of it is getting an insurance policy.

I took prudential islamic insurance + investment policy and has been with it since. Eventough many -many islamic people try to persuade me to switch to takaful nasional. i didnt bug a bit. I believe and trust the that my investment and insurance plan is according to syariah as what has been stipulated upon. Sentimen buying is not my interest. when i make purchase, i do my own research and make my own summary from my findings.

zul is lucky. at 19 yo, his going to be well protected with just only RM100 per month. His hospital allowance is RM200/day and other perks of protection he will be enjoying all this life with just RM100 monthly.

Thats about it. i didnt tell about the rest of the policy benefit yet. But obviously my investment % is much higher than his coz ive been paying RM180 per month. of course with that i enjoy RM300 daily hospital allowance and of course other perks.

Funny thing was, a year ago i took maybank income perlu insurance policy just to get that extra RM200 perday hospital allowance!.(during that time i have 2 insurance coverage, prudential(RM150/month) and maybank income perlu(RM30/month) my agent just told me that i can upgrade my policy with the same extra RM30 per month plus, i will able to enjoy other additional benefits + my investment % will increase as well. DARN!.

thank god she told me earlier. so i decided to terminate my maybank income perlu policy at once.

i feel so relief and glad that now zul is protected during his rainy days in future now. Wow. i personally think everyone of us should get protected with insurance for our rainy days, esp the young graduate. coz you premium will be much cheaper when you are young age. plus no insurance company will approve your insurance applications when you are already sick. you going to end up become one of the poor people begging for donation in the newspaper. yes. we read those sad news of theirs. i just wonder why are those people esp the celebrities didnt take any medical insurance earlier on?

probably they think. well, im young and healthy. im not going to get sick. i’ll think about how to get money when im sick later on. poor them. dont they understand the meaning of malay idioms.
