August 2008

Apparently, differs from the previous years. Weirdly this year i found myself really looking forward to this year ramadhan. Dont really bother about Merdeka or any celebration related to it this year. Probbaly because i have exam this tuesday. There are few more chapters that i need to do last minute revisions before the actual exam, and i dont want to waste my time if i have to resit this paper.

anyway, somehow it now occured to me that as a muslim, we all should focus on the celebration and preparation for ramadhan more than syawal or hari raya. The rotten culture inherited from our ancestors. My parents this year too seem to adhered to the concept of appreciating ramadhan more than they did last year. Probably they too understand that ramadhan is too precious to be wasted and to let it pass just like that.

From arabicax, a malaysian blogger who lives and work in dubai, i now know that the arabs celebrate the upcoming ramadhan month by making all sorts of preparations including, making a new robe! which i found amusing. Here in malaysia, i didnt know that our locals did such preparations to celebrate ramadhan. Except for sells person who are busy getting orders for cookies and all sorts of things and food mongers at the ramadhan bazaar.

i felt very shamefull to myself. Thats why, this year, no matter how bad i am before, i will try to make it right this year. A friend ask me ‘apa azam sempena merdeka?”. i said what? do ppl create azam for merdeka day aswell? thus i didnt telll him my azam cause i didnt have any.

Well i think now i do. My azam in conjunction with this year 51st year merdeka celebration is, to become a better muslim in many ways the best i can. For a start, i look forward to make my ramadhan this as the best and most meaningful ramadhan i ever had. how?shhh its a secrect :)

Happy 51st Merdeka to you and may you too will make your ramadhan this year as your best ramadhan ever.

when i took my journey home via LRT i usually spent my time observing people around me while i stand there holding on to the hand grip.  If you usually commute via LRT after office hour around 5.30-6pm, the LRT will surely be pack with different sort of group but most of them are office ladies.

i found it very refreshing to watch a bunch of school kids teasing with each others, discussing pointless topic which sometime i cant help myself but to giggles.just listen to their choice of topix of conversation. they can go from asking among them, do you like me more or another friend more, or as silly as things they do in the school toilet that day!lol.

On the contrary, the adults, majority of them, male or female, are bunch of people who have a similar facial expression, they seem to have big problems in their head, even if i did smile whenever my eyes met them, only few will smile back. most them will stare back suspiciously.

Ahhh…. How i wish they can cheer up. the office hour has end. isn’t now their time to be happy heading home? if you look at their face closely, esp any adults who  find complaining about work, office politics etc, as their only choice of topics of discussion among them, i think they tend to look older than their age.Even worst,if you found a pair of two or three office workers, with only one person who is doing the non stop talking.most of it are complaints about office politics, piles of work, anger, frustration so on and so forth, while their colleauge who just stand there, nodding.phew.

I prefer observing school kids teasing with each other. i bet they have tons of homework given by their teachers and tremendous pressure from the teachers, esp their parents, but hey, when they out of school they forgotten all that. they have leave it all soonest as they leave the class door.

isn’t we all like that when we were in school? the time when we count seconds after seconds untill the last school bell’s ring? then arent we all scream happily rushing to the school gate, or bicycle port or wait for our school bus or parents and cant wait to be home. i dun recall a time of me or my friends bringing out school issues into our conversations. did you?

personally i felt that, we tend to think too much.any negativity at work should stay in the office. try to leave it there the minute we walk out from the office door. life is simple. if we choose to put ourselves in a miserable condition. we would feel miserable all the time. so why not choose happiness? even if we didn’t get any richer tomorrow we can at least able to make ourselves feel happy right now. smile. try to let go all the frustrations, anger and bunch of unfinished business in the office.

why dont we all tomorrow try to smile again. smiling is contagious. who knows your smile can cure a broken heart.try it. choose to be a like those school kids, and choose to be happy and free again. :)

Arthur and the minimoys/invisibles is half animated half realistic movie. The english version of the movie featured voices of famous celebrities such as madonna as Selenia, snoop dogg as max, david bowie as the evil maltazad, robert deniro as king, as well as supporting acts which features mia farrow as grandma and freddie highmore as arthur.

i really love this movie. the characters all cute even the evil characters has their own uniqueness.
Just wondering, why isnt the movie become a blockbuster hits considering the talented voices behind the characters.

around 11pm yesterday, my parents called me up informing me about my brother who just had an accident. He was treated as outpatient at SJMC.

so i rushed there, luckily, it wasnt as bad as i thought. My brother told my parents that he had to undergo plastic  surgery and his face may no longer be as what it is.

Nevermind the face, im more worried about his condition. Im so relieved knowing he didnt had any bone fracture. Just a minor wounds here and there. However he got a deep tear on his upper lip so the doctor had to stiched it back with a minor surgery to make it look better. Thats all.

Sadly, My brother doesnt have any medical insurance under his name, that didnt suprised me at all knowing later on he informed me he actually didnt hit any vehicle. Just hit a road divider and fell off from his bike due to riding bike in half awake situation(sleepy). I just had to controlled myself futher when he told me that he normally did that(riding motorcyle while sleepy), and he was so suprised that this time he had an accident due to that.

Oh well. You gotta know my brother’s attitude to understand the way he think. Hes able to come out with 1001 reasons to justify his action. As usual, i just advice him to think, what is the actual message that god try to communicate to him with his acccident.

Anyway, Thankfully again, my parents had to bail him out. We settled his medical bills in total of RM1250. and 2nd bill for followup treatment will cost him RM750.

This would be a good lesson for him to improve his life and above all to get himself a medical insurance protection for his future well being.

cak!

The last time i went to indonesian band’s concert was probably in 2006. The peterpan concert. It was during new year’s eve at the muddy stadium merdeka. (it was rainy season).

Thus having a chance to attend such a big scale concert which it prime audience target is Indonesian living in Malaysia is something that i have to say, interesting. Having to witness with bear eyes the over emotional indonesian audience complete with group fights, and all. But most interesting at all, i have to give them a clap for having such appreciation and support towards music, indonesian music especially. They are not passive at all, except during breaks where they relax while waiting for the set up. But the moment the music start, their strong support towards the band are perhaps malaysians audience should learn from.

I arrived there around 2pm. I missed samson and dewi-dewi. In short i enjoyed the concert, except the delayed due to technical hiccup during Ungu’set. Almost all bands know how to communicate with audience, esp Pasha from Ungu, They know how to inculcate strong messages through their speech. Valueble messages on friendship, spritual, and of course patriotic. It was so overwhelm hearing this vocalist maximising their minutes on stage to deliver positive messages to the audience as much as they can. Something which i rarely get from our local bands. Not saying that local bands are empty soul. Some are good. But majority are “kosong”. Usually our local bands are not that brilliant, i think. Most of them failed in public communication. The usual speech of “dah makan?”, ” do you enjoy the show” yada2 is some of usual cliches coming out from our local musicians mouth.

Anyway the highlight of the concert would be, the moment where ariel takes off his shirt and wish everyone selamat tinggal, i almost cried. But the minute i remember, the disbanded of peterpan will open a new oppurtunities for Peterpan band members to evolves in their career, i start to smile again. Who wouldnt be sad listening to “mungkin nanti” in the middle of night drizzle? Ariel taking off his shirt i think for the first the time on stage in Malaysia is a historical symbol of freedom.

Goodluck ariel, goodluck Peterpan. Selamat Berkarya.

P.s Jason Lo, was there on the field monitoring his event. Hey jason, when will be turn for RTW? hurry up already! :)

4.Tarik perhatian audien.
-Gunakan teknik penyampaian dua hala. Jangan hanya membaca.

10. Jangan Over.

Bagi saya, saya selalu amalkan, get it done and over with.

There has been a huge buzz on Bio Oil on TV and print ads since the past few months. Bio Oil claim that it can, improve dissapearance of scars, strecth marks and uneven skin tone, plus highly affective for skin aging and dry skin.

Well does it really? i dont know. i think all of us should be extra careful before using Bio Oil. Priced on shelves at RM35 i think for most users it is quite cheap for the tricks it can offer.

However from Bio Oil official website there is a disclaimer stating that

What you read on this website may not be typical of what you will experience when using Bio-Oil. Bio-Oil is a cosmetic product, and as such its purpose is to help improve the skin’s appearance. Results will vary from user to user.

I dont know about you, but my experience with Bio Oil few weeks ago was dissapointing. I made a mistake of not making a homework before purchase. Well probably too taken by their promises. First of all, i forgotten the fact that ive sensitive skin.  Secondly i forgot to consult my doctor before using it. Darn. Well my skin are almost scar free except few mosquitos scar that come and go once in a while. But recently ive had minor problem with my razor scars. Usually it dissapear within days, but recently it wont bug. So worried. i tried using moisturisers like aloe vera, etc to make it less visible. no significant improvement.

Thus seeing Bio Oil ad, i thought it will solve my problem. So i bought it, use it religiously for 1 week. Guess what, my scars worsen, it turns from red to blue color and i freak out that i will stuck with a permanent scars all my life.i stop using Bio Oil at once after that.

My days got miserable after that. i cant sleep. the scars now turn to becoming itchy and eventough i didnt scratch it but i found myself awake from sleep scratching it.

So enough is enough i finally made a wise decision to consult my doctor and ask her to refer me to a skin specialist. Thank god, i just found out that my skin was extra sensitive when i had asthma problem. Then i just realised that Bio Oil ingredient is oil base and contains alcohol, which is harzardous for sensitive skin problem.

What freak me out more was i just realised on the Bio Oil label theres a line saying that Bio Oil cannot be use broken scars! so basically it only can be use on old scar.

Oh well. Basically ive learnt from my ignorance, the hard way. So readers, please consult your doctor first before seeking your own alternative. At least ask your skin specialist and confirm if your skin problem can be treated in a cheaper way using Bio Oil or there are better and suitable medication to solve it.

This is important esp to people with sensitive skin and skin alergic history. Sometimes the skin problem is cause due to eczema, where it should be treated using a special medication. For instance using ezera cream etc. But most important of all, always consult your doctor and skin specialist to treat your problem. Not by making your own decision in deciding what’s best for your skin problem. Because we are no expert. The fact that treating skin problem doesnt come cheap and it takes alot of time to heal, worst fear of all if the problem will cause permanent scars.

So i hope everyone of us to be extra careful and make a wiser decision in choosing whats best for us. Theres no problem with Bio Oil, the product is specifically created to solve a specific and alternative solution for a targeted problem for example old scars. The real problem is us, the consumer who most usually fail to understand whats best for us.

So think wise, be a wise consumer.

Nurul ‘budak jantung berlubang’ kembali derita
